This year, with the help of our Youth Corps, we were able to raise over $1,000 for our Santa Fund which enables us to buy gifts for children in need in our own Stony Brook community. This year, the gifts went to an excellent organization called Long Island Adolescents, a not-for-profit Social Service agency that provides residential and ancillary services to male and female youth. Here are some shots of our Youth Corps wrapping these gifts before they were picked up by LIA. Thanks to all of our Youth Corps volunteers and to all who pitched in to make the holiday season a little brighter for others in the community. From all of us at WMHO, we wish you all a Happy Holidays!

Here’s a shot of Mr. Buckley’s class from Edmund W. Miles Middle School in Amityville at West Meadow Beach participating in our Living Off the Land Program that was held on Wednesday October 26, 2016. The class learned all about the inhabitants whom lived at West Meadow beach thousands of years ago and how they might have lived by surviving off the land.

Yesterday was our 23rd Annual Walk for Beauty/Hercules Run. The Walk for Beauty Committee and the Hercules on the Harbor Run Committee want to thank everyone for their participation despite the cold and the wind. We had 1,100 combined walkers and runners! All the monies earned go directly to directed Breast Cancer Research at Stony Brook University Hospital. Here are some photos from yesterday’s event. More to follow!
