Vote for Your Favorite Scarecrow! The 36th Annual Scarecrow Competition
Scarecrows of all shapes, sizes, and personalities will soon take over Stony Brook Village Center for the Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s (WMHO) 36th Annual Scarecrow Competition. A beloved community tradition, the competition invites visitors to stroll through the Village and vote for their favorite creations. Winning scarecrows compete for cash prizes. Voting is free and open to all.
Participants can compete in three categories:
- Category A: Previous First Prize Winners & Professionals
- Category B: Individual Adults or Families (adults take the lead)
- Category C: Individuals or Groups of Children (12 & under)
Ballots will be available in every shop throughout Stony Brook Village Center starting October 3. Completed ballots may be returned to any shop to be counted. Voting opens October 3 and runs through October 25, 2026.
The winners of the 36th Annual Scarecrow Competition will be announced during WMHO’s 36th Annual Halloween Festival on Saturday, October 31 at 2:00 pm.
