The Ward Melville Heritage Organization proudly announces the return of their Secrets and Spirits Walking Tours in Stony Brook Village. This year’s tour features new stories about local hauntings and spirits. Tours will leave from T. Bayles Minuse Mill Pond and Tranquility Park with two sessions, one on October 27 and the other on October 28, both at 10:50am. Tickets for this event are $12 per person. Reservations are required.
Participants in the walking tour will experience new stories about Stony Brook Village and its strange, spooky and quirky residents. This includes: the story of the Long Island witch trials, the apparitions of Annette Williamson at the Country House Restaurant (c.1710), the mysterious woman in white seen at the Stony Brook Grist Mill, William Sidney Mount and Spirit Photography; the ghost ships of shipbuilder Jonas Smith, and the role women mediums played in the Suffrage Movement.
The excitement can continue after the walking tour at Mirabelle Restaurant & Tavern located in the Three Village Inn (c. 1751) for a complimentary glass of wine, or the Country House (c. 1710) for a complimentary desert. Purchases of entrees are required for both complimentary items.
