Through their generous sponsorship, Teachers Federal Credit Union recently enabled Nassakeag Elementary’s 4th grade students to travel back in time to Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s (WMHO) Brewster House, c. 1665, using their state of the art distance learning technology.  Along with WMHO educators, teachers Mrs. Jo-Ann Hudecek, Ms. Robbin Teitelbaum, Ashley Donato, Kathryn Comisky and Jennifer Betz enabled their students to experience a virtual reader’s theater performance about the Culper Spy Ring, “Windows Through Time: Journals of American Revolutionary War Spies.”  Listed on the New York State and National Register of Historic Places, The Brewster House, located in Setauket, was home Joseph Brewster and cousin, Culper Spy ring member, Caleb Brewster. This program allows students to role play as ‘Patriots and Loyalists,” use invisible ink and numeric codes to write messages and much more.  For information on all WMHO programs, visit wmho.org or call 631-751-2244.
