In 2017, the procession included effigies of Revolutionary War heroes Benjamin Tallmadge and Caleb Brewster; Jonas Smith, Stony Brook’s first millionaire; Ward Melville, the founder of Stony Brook Village, America’s first planned business community, and his philanthropist wife, Dorothy Melville.
