The Ward Melville Heritage Organization welcomes volunteers to help as gardeners, docents, sales associates in the gift shop and help with special events. If you would like to be part of this amazing team, please contact us via the form below.
WMHO is looking for volunteers in the following areas:
Gardeners: Volunteers are needed to help maintain the Herb Gardens at our historic properties. If you enjoy working outdoors and have an interest in horticulture or gardening in general, please contact us.
Docents: Docents are needed at The Stony Brook Grist Mill (c.1751), The Brewster House (c.1665), The Thompson House (c.1709) and at the Educational & Cultural Center. Docents need to be articulate, comfortable speaking in front of groups and have a love of history.
Gift Shop: Volunteers are needed at the Stony Brook Grist Mill Country Store on the weekends from 12 – 4:30 p.m. May – October.
Dr. Erwin J. Ernst Marine Conservation Center: Volunteers are needed to help with environmental education programs at our marine conservation center – located in the heart of an 88-acre Wetlands Preserve. If you love working with kids, the environment, and have an interest in marine life, we need your help!
